Cotton Candy on a Rainy Day

Don’t look now
I’m fading away
Into the gray of my mornings
Or the blues of every night

Is it that my nails
keep breaking
Or maybe the corn
on my second little piggy
Things keep popping out
on my face
or
of my life

It seems no matter how
I try I become more difficult
to hold
I am not an easy woman
to want

They have asked
the psychiatrists     psychologists     politicians and
social workers
What this decade will be
known for
There is no doubt          it is
loneliness…

Finite

We move through the timeline of life

righteously

and take the road often travelled

uniformly.

If light can escape the whole

then all is a possibility.

But what is measured

doesn’t add up

equally.

“Jesse – look, look at what I can do!”
“Oh wow Kelsey, you made a bird.”
“Nope, I made a crane.”

pink-lotus-with-blue-sky-bonita-hensleyMy best me will learn to put myself first because you can’t champion someone else’s life when yours is in shambles.
Remember, if the plane is going down, you have to secure your oxygen mask first before you can attempt to help others.  This is because in order to help others, you have to be able to breathe (at the very least).  Thus putting yourself first isn’t selfish, it’s smart.

I know we often dive head first into the various, daily crisis that our love one’s experience.  It’s easy to do.  Trust me, I know.  But at the end of the day, there are only 24 hours in a day.  How many of those hours do you spend doing someone else’s bidding?  Be stingy with your time.  Invest in yourself and most of all take care of yourself!

I am a lady,
paint the streets the color red,
you are not a man.

Your eyes carry pain,
fate doesn’t tempt the timid,
let’s make time stand still.

Morning Musings 7.20.17

Although I am a night owl at heart, the older I get,
the more I grow to appreciate the calm of the early morning.
It brings peace and clarity of thought.
